2017 Ford GT Review - the second generation of the mid-engine supercar
Close to forty years after the GT40, Ford formed a modern interpretation simply called the Ford GT. The first-generation Ford GT solely lived for two years before its demise, but Ford is now launching a second-generation GT in 2017, and it is the best one yet.
At the 2015 North American Auto Show in Detroit, Ford ripped the curtain off of the all-new 2017 Ford GT. With a super-light carbon fiber and aluminum construction, a 600-plus horsepower, EcoBoost V-6 as well as a race-ready cockpit, the latest Ford GT is hands down the top supercar in the history of the Blue Oval brand.
Ford is introducing the latest GT, an ultra-high-performance supercar that may serve as a technology show off for top EcoBoost® performance, aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fiber construction.
When revealed, the 2017 Ford GT generated even more oohs and ahhs than any other vehicle on display, no mean feat in a show filled with hot rides such as the long-awaited NSX supercar and a 200-mph Cadillac sedan and the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider.
The minimum weight for the GT Le Mans class, or GTLM, where the Ford GT should be opposed by the Ferrari 458, Corvette, Aston Martin, Porsche 911, and Audi R8, is 2745 pounds.
