Lexus SA updates GS, adds 200t EX

Lexus South Africa has given its GS sedan rear-wheel drive nip and tuck, and add the entry-level GS 200t EX new derivatives.
The model line-up, meanwhile, had been reduced to two, with the GS 350 EX and a previous range-topping GS 450h SE is no longer available locally.
In terms of styling, the updated Lexus GS which boasts a new rendition of the brand's signature spindle grille, framed by satin-effect chrome trim and flanked by new unique standard Bi-LED lights.

Around the back, there is a revised tail-lights and changes to the rear bumper.
Both GS 200t EX and GS 350 F-Sport navigation features as standard, while the vehicle is multi-information display now bigger 4.2 inches.
There are also changes to the design of the dashboard, the new switchgear materials, and seat upholstery fresh.



GS 200t Model EX uses a brand new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new plant makes 180 kW and 380 Nm, which allows 200t GS to hit three figures in 7.3 seconds, before topping out at 230km / h.

In the GS 350 F-Sport, the 3.5-liter V6 is maintained and also paired with an eight-speed automatic. This model sprints to 100 km / h in 6.0 seconds.
"The GS has a variety of important updates and the addition of 200t EX GS models will provide new levels of performance and efficiency in the segment of mid-size sedan Lexus," said Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing for Lexus South Africa.

Suspension and underbody aerodynamics have also been tweaked, and Toyota Supported said interior noise levels have also been lowered.
The new GS body has an additional 188 points of spot-welded to the frame to optimize panel-coupling stiffness. It also has an additional 22.5 meters of adhesive body, while the door surrounds has an additional 132-laser screw welding points compared with the current body.
