Ford patent 11-speed transmission system

Ford patent 11-speed transmission system

Shortly after the transmission of a 9-speed ZF 9HP appeared in a variety of automotive applications, new breakthroughs are now being developed by Ford Motor Company to give birth to 11-speed automatic transmission.

Turns out Ford has filed a patent for the technology since October 4, 2013 and became known to the public after the patent documents published by the US Patent and Trademark Office on April 9.

It is quite surprising. Because the Detroit automaker, just say about their plans to launch a 10-speed automatic transmission on the F-150 Raptor pickup in 2017. As reported by Autoguide last week, there is data in the document that describes three configurations result from the combination of gear transmission, clutch, and brake.

Ford spokesman, Paul Seredynski, not to declare the truth of this news. Paul just said that filing a patent for an innovative idea is a normal occurrence in the automotive business. "Asking patent helps protect new ideas, but do not always show the business or product plans for the future," wrote Seredynski in a statement.
