Review Hyundai Tucson 2016 164-horsepower and more part in the interior
Hyundai's 2016 Tucson had its overseas debut at the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March, but yet the New York Auto Show this week providing the first possibility to get a look at the compact SUV in U.S. trim. Hyundai used the 2015 New York auto show as the event for the opening of its all-new Tucson. As an alternative to a typical five-passenger crossover, however, this 2016 model year Tucson comes with some stunning future-forward features.
The main visible change is basically in the nose of the SUV, which includes a new hexagonal grille, LED running lights and projector headlights. Even improving the looks — along with the comfort — are the Tucson's new shapes: It's 30inches longer and also about an inch larger. The change provides about 5 cubic feet of additional room in the interior.
The base powertrain put in place is a 164-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, routing power through a six-speed automatic. The uprated setup is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, released through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
With the new turbocharged engine as well as front-wheel drive, Hyundai predicts the 2016 Tucson to set 26/33 mpg city/highway, which is actually a 5 mpg enhancement over the 2015 model’s 2.4-liter engine. 2016 models built with the base engine and front-wheel drive are predictable to earn 23/31 mpg, that is a slight improvement over the 2015 base model’s 23/29 mpg EPA rating.
