2015 GMC Sierra 1500 review full-size pickup featured in a variety of cab with fine rating in crash-test safety

The recently overhauled 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 provides some of the greatest hauling and towing numbers of any light-duty full-size truck while returning much better fuel economy and performance. And it offers a lot ports and connections to modify almost the Sierra into a mobile workplace.

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is a full-size pickup on the market in a range of cab/cargo-bed settings in both two- and four-wheel drive. Body variations include regular cab, extended (double) cab and crew cab. Common cabs are for sale with either a 6.5-foot standard bed or an 8-foot bed. Extended cabs feature the 6.5-foot standard bed, while crew cabs are presented with either a 5.75-foot short bed or the 6.5-foot standard bed.

The 2015 GMC Sierra provides three engines: a 4.3-liter V6 which will make 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft, a 5.3-liter V8 that will make 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, and a 6.2-liter V8 which makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. All Sierra models use a standard 6-speed automatic, though GM has hinted that an 8-speed may possibly be released midyear for V8 powerplants.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Sierra 1500 reaped a great rating in crash-test safety, together with an excellent rating in the oh-so-difficult moderate front overlap crash assessment. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration considered the Sierra 1500 with a 5-star in general rating, together with a 5-star rating for frontal and side crashes. Rollover crashes were rated at a 4 stars.
