Review Toyota Prius 2016: A lot more Aggressive Design
Toyota overlooks something of a crossroads with the future fourth-generation Prius. The game-changing hybrid's iconic form provides not just smart fuel-saving motoring to its loyal owners. For better or worse, the Prius holds social and cultural currency beyond its practical nature, and to redesign the model is to invite peril. The 2016 Toyota Prius will need to walk a line between loyalists and skeptics.
The new Prius is planned for to boast a 1.8L 4 cylinder engine with a an electric motor, with the unit making an estimated 150hp. The electric motor has to be smaller and lighter than is normally encountered in previous models. With fuel consumption anticipated at 56mpg, the 2016 Prius will utilize a very expensive type of lithium ion battery built to hold charge for a lot longer periods of time, delivering fuel consumption of about 60mpg.
The new Prius shape, well, interesting. The new model is a departure from past generations. The front looks apparently more aggressive, advanced in large part by the radical, curved LED headlights that extend down to the bumper. The hood is in addition lower and it even has a pair of creases that move down to the middle, blending in with the character lines from the headlamps, meeting just short of the Toyota badge.
The release was likely to happen this coming spring but was rescheduled. Good sources hinted that the 2016 Toyota Prius could be out late in 2015. It’s said to be available to customers early in 2016 starting at a price of around US$ 110,000 and 115,000. We will wait and check out if the 2016 Toyota Prius will be a world-beater.
