1. Belem
This area is located in the northern part of the river Tagus, in the old days this area became the central port for Portuguese ships to roam around the world looking for a new world on the 15th and 16th centuries. 3. Baixa
One of the districts in the city of Lisbon, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, with patterns typical Portuguese building like those in Brazil, macau, and Bahia. Here there are many shops and international boutiques which invites tourists to spend their money. The region is also has office buildings from the past. This area also offers a culinary tour with many cafes and restaurants.
4. Chiado
This region debuted in the late 19th century, at that time many artists and writers gathered in this city. Fernando Pessoa sculpture, the most famous poet of the 20th century is one of the most interesting point of tourists. in 1988 a major fire destroyed many historic buildings, Alvaro Siza Vieira rebuild the site and managed to bring back the atmosphere.
5. Paula Rego Museum
One of the most famous modern artist in Portugal, escaped at the time of Antonio Salazar, settled in london in 1950. His works contain many elements of Portuguese culture and also the memories of his childhood in Cascais, a coastal town 30 minutes by train from Lisbon. Tourists visiting Cascais can enjoy views of the Atlantic ocean.
