Review Hyundai Tucson 2016 164-horsepower and more space in the interior

Hyundai's 2016 Tucson had its world wide debut at the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March, however the New York Auto Show this week granted the first occasion where you can get a look at the compact SUV in U.S. trim. Hyundai used the 2015 New York auto show as the venue for the presentation of its all-new Tucson. Instead of a normal five-passenger crossover, however, this 2016 model year Tucson is equipped with several stunning future-forward features.

The main visible change is basically in the nose of the SUV, containing a new hexagonal grille, LED running lights and projector headlights. Also improving the looks — not to forget the comfort — are the Tucson's new proportions: It's 30inches longer and also about an inch broader. The change provides about 5 cubic feet of more area in the interior.

The base powertrain installation is a 164-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, routing power through a six-speed automatic. The uprated setup is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, transferred through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

With the new turbocharged engine also front-wheel drive, Hyundai expects the 2016 Tucson to restore 26/33 mpg city/highway, that is a 5 mpg enhancement over the 2015 model’s 2.4-liter engine. 2016 variants equipped with the base engine and front-wheel drive are expected to earn 23/31 mpg, which is a slight improvement over the 2015 base model’s 23/29 mpg EPA rating.
