2015 Honda Civic Economical Small Car With High-powered Engine Review

The 2015 Honda Civic sedan and coupe are many of the best-named compact cars traded in the U.S. Ever since the first Civic went on the market around 40 years ago, the car has reflected its era--and the latest iteration of the Civic was given a number of improvements over the past two years to make it aligned with the market. While the base car is right now in its fourth year, that which you see on showroom floors is certainly only in its third year, after speedy and fairly intense updating of the economical, grim, feature-poor 2012 redesign.

Reviewers record that the base 2015 Civic's four-cylinder engine produces significant power. It comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission; reviewers really like the offered automatic transmission for its fluid shifts and responsiveness. The Civic has excellent fuel economy for the class, with the base version getting up to an EPA-predicted 30/39 mpg city/highway. The 2015 Civic Si features a far more powerful four-cylinder engine together with a six-speed manual transmission.

The 2015 Honda Civic is offered standard with stability control, side-curtain airbags, front-side airbags, a rearview camera as well as 4-wheel anti-lock brakes. EX and EX-L versions also provide Honda's LaneWatch blind spot monitoring system, while the Civic Hybrid provides forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning systems. In government trialing, the Civic collected five overall stars -- a credit score made of 4-star ratings on frontal and rollover tests together with a 5-star rating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's side-impact review.

The Civic is still among the best-equipped and priciest small cars for sale. Even the LX coupe, which is the most affordable trim can be purchased, starts around $19,000 with destination. From the Corolla and Kia Forte to the Jetta and Mazda3, the majority of top competitors get started inexpensive — a few by thousands. Even so, Honda will give you ample standard features that base versions should fit lots of shoppers.
