2015 GMC Sierra 1500 review full-size pickup available in a number of cab with great rating in crash-test safety
The recently overhauled 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 presents the best hauling and towing numbers of any light-duty full-size truck while returning far better fuel economy and performance. And it carries enough ports and connections to twist almost any type of Sierra into a mobile workplace.
The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is a full-size pickup sold in a range of cab/cargo-bed options in both two- and four-wheel drive. Body styles include ordinary cab, extended (double) cab and crew cab. Typical cabs can be had with either a 6.5-foot standard bed or an 8-foot bed. Extended cabs feature the 6.5-foot standard bed, while crew cabs come with either a 5.75-foot short bed or the 6.5-foot standard bed.
The 2015 GMC Sierra comes with three engines: a 4.3-liter V6 that makes 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft, a 5.3-liter V8 which makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, and a 6.2-liter V8 which makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. All Sierra models carry an ordinary 6-speed automatic, though GM has hinted that an 8-speed could possibly unveiling midyear for V8 powerplants.
As reported by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Sierra 1500 earned a decent rating in crash-test safety, along with an excellent rating in the oh-so-difficult moderate front overlap crash evaluation. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration ranked the Sierra 1500 with a 5-star total rating, along with a 5-star rating for frontal and side crashes. Rollover crashes were rated at a 4 stars.
