Tips For Driving Safely With Pets! Knowledge About Safety of Driver, Passengers and Pets


Driving Skills for Life program, which is regularly held by the Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI), this time held relating to World Animal Day. This time, FMI provide some training to riders who want to bring pets while driving. In a special session held at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, (10/11/2014), FMI share driving safety tips when bringing a pet along. The goal is of course to increase the participants' knowledge about the safety of both the driver, passengers and pets in the car.

FMI also invited Indonesian K9 team to help provide additional knowledge to the participants on how to train and understand the characteristics of the pets. "We are very excited to implement this particular DFSL session; This session gives a different knowledge about safe driving, coupled with travel safety tips when bringing a pet. This session provides insight to the participants about the knowledge and also provide valuable hands-on experience, such as driving safety tips for drivers and their pets" said Communications Director of Ford Motor Indonesia.

Here are tips for driving safely with pets:

1. must keep the pet from the steering wheel and your lap during the trip.
2. placing a pet in a cage with good ventilation, or by using special safety belt, which is installed properly on the body straps (harness).

3. train a pet to love traveling in the car by creating a positive atmosphere while driving.
4. do not leave pets in the car, but if you have to leave them, make sure not to go too long. Be sure to provide ventilation and enough drinking water to keep them hydrated;

5. pets should eat a few hours before driving.
6. create an environment that is familiar to your pet with a favorite toy and all the other equipment while driving.
7. do not forget to bring a snack, especially for a long trip, and make sure you stop at regular intervals to give your pet a chance to eat, drink, and defecate.
